Researching outdoor activities

My husband and I are still on our mini-road trip as we spend hours in the car looking at the geography of the area. There are some pretty amazing scenic places. One thing on my bucket list as the kids get older is to explore nature in it’s rawest form. Outdoor camps are great, but I’m wondering if we need to invest in property that would offer us the opportunities for less structured events and more organic experiences. So, I’m highlighting lots of areas on maps as we go along. We looked at one snow skiing area and were disappointed in the actual slopes, although the scenery was impressive. My husband would love to buy lots of acreage, pan for gold, and have many farm animals that the kids could care for. Not sure that I’m that kind of gal, but I will do a lot of things if it means those changes benefit my children’s learning experiences and positively influence their character.
